Just over 2 weeks ago my fiancee Bridget phoned me and said there was a small brown and white kitten in our back garden and he had white goo over his eyes. I was on my way home and he was still there when I got home. I had a look at his eyes, cleaned out one as best I could with a cotton pad and warm water. The other one didn’t look the best so we decided to take him to our local vet. Sunbeam Vetinary hospital who I highly recommend. He was also unusually chubby.

Next day we were at the vet and as we had thought one of his eyes were gone. He said he would be fine and he was put on anti-biotics, drops for the eyes and worming tablets, turns out thats why he was chubby, he was full of worms.

2 weeks later and I’m delighted to report he is doing wonderfully well. He is super tame, we have no idea who his mummy is but is now settled in as part of the family. You can see the latest character below.

The site seems slow to load. I must talk to my hosting company. I’m about to start editing some footage I took of the cats yesterday.

Not a very active week this week in the cat world. All the cats are healthy. Oxo is not on best behaviour though and is peeing wherever he pleases. I think he will need a visit to the vet. I’m not sure it its a medical problem or not. He has always been l ike this before and after he was neutered. Here is the culprit below when he was just a kitten!

This site has been setup for those who love the feline world. If you are continuosly intrigued by the facinating word of cats you have come to the right place. During the next few weeks I hope to add facinating articles about all things cats. If you have a story to share or some interesting pics or vidoes then please post them here. I would love to see them.

My Love of Cats

I am now 35 years of age and have always been facinated by cats since I was very young. Today I have 7 cats. To the left you will see the main cat, her name is Suse, she is named after the Linux operating system! I’ll be adding her story shortly. So I’m going to start at the very begging and tell you the story of when I got my first cat when I was at secondary school. I have pictures of him on a drive somewhere and I’ll dig them out and post them.

My first cat Puds.

When I was a bit older I asked my parents could I get a cat. After lots of persuading they agreed. I remember checking the evening paper for people giving away kittens. This was before the days of internet, in those days we acutally had to leave our homes to get things done!

I spotted someone giving away kittens. We didn’t have a phone so I went to my neighbours to call the person. We agreed a time. I cycled into town full of excitment. I remember arriving at the house and being taken out to the back where the kittens are. One of them came over to me straight away. “Thats the one!” I said, “I want him”. He was placed into an old jug kettle box with holes in it and the box put into a plastic bag. I took him home with the bag on my handlebars and he was giving the odd Miaow now and then.

When I got home I remember all the exctitment as I had a good look at thisĀ  new friend to the family. He was small. Puds, as he later became known, was a standard brown tabby cat and he gave us years of fun. Alas, due to growing up in poverty we were unable to afford vets and one day he came home very badly injured. His face was very badly damaged, we never found out what happened but we assumed he was attacked by another animal. He lay in a coma for serveral days, but he did come around and recovered. I guess the trama was too much and he didn’t last many years after that and he was always weak and frail and his 1 eye was always dull.

I came home one day and he wasn’t around, I asked my dad where he is and he told me the inevitable and he had burried him in our back garden. That was a very sad day for me and I was in the middle of doing exams. My dad and myself never really spoke much about it, even to this day but I know that he missed him as well. Puds used to always curl up in my dads lap and my dad would be the first to feed him every morning and at night. I didn’t own a cat for several years after that and in my next article I will tell you about the current gang. Hope to see you very soon!
