The Author’s Cats

I own seven cats. All are in good health and have their own characteristics. Here is a run down of my feline family. More pictures will be added shortly.

Suse:

Domestic Black and White Shorthair

Suse is the main resident, she is now just over 3 years old and still playful as ever. She is moody though and likes to be on her own at times. She is very clingy at times and stays near me. Very pleased with her overal. Suse is a mostly indoors cat. She goes out very occassionly and when she  does she is supervised. We live far away from main roads, but I still wouldn’t like to leave her out unattended as she is too tame and could become someone elses pet! Suse is spayed and has a nice subtle miaow.

Jerry:

Domestic Black Shorthair

(First Generation Ferals)

Jerry is a feral cat and is now just over 2 years old. He is extremely timid and wouldn’t hurt a fly. He likes to hide away both indoor and outdoors. He looses his shyness for a while when he is hungry. Jerry is out by day and in by night. There is no danger of him being stolen as he wouldn’t go near a stangers house. Jerry is neutured and has an unusal miaow. Although feral he wouldn’t hurt a fly and never exposed his claws to me.

Cheeky:

Domestic Black Shorthair

Cheeky was the reason I started to rescue feral cats. Cheeky is Jerry’s brother. When he was young he had a bad eye and we took pity on him.We captured him and brought him to the vet.  The Vet said his eye was damages but should heal if his third eyelid was sewed shut for about a month. We went ahead with the operation and after a month his eye was nearly perfect. There is just a very slight dullness in his eye if you look carefully. Had we not got him operated on his eye would have burst and he would have died.  I am glad that we saved him. He is just like his name, very cheeky and sneaky and a real character. He is out by day and in by night and loves hiding in places around the house. He is neutured and although he is feral he wouldn’t hurt anyone and never went for me.

Fluffy:

Domestic Black Medium Hair

(Second Generation Ferals)

Fluffy is a complete mystery to me. She was born where my lawnmower was kept and I rescued her one day. Fluffy is extremely tame, you would never think she was born wild. She is extremely affectionate and is more tamer than Suse. Suse was adopted, she wasn’t born wild. Not  long after we had captured Fluffy she seemed very sick. She could barely move and seemed very week. We stayed awake all night as we were worried about her. Luckily we got her to the vet the next day and after mecication she recovered in a few days. Fluffy is now an important part of the household and we never tire of her antics and her affection. Fluffy is spayed and mostly indoors like Suse.

Whisky:

Domestic Black Medium Hair

Whisky is Fluffy’s brother and the very opposite. He is very feral, completely untouchable and I wouldn’t trust him. He has often hissed at me. He is a comple nutjob and only comes in when its feeding time and stays over night. Whisky is not a good pet, he is simply a wild cat. But still we are gladto be able to offer him a good kind life. Of all my cats he wouln’t be my favourite and I wouldn’t trust him. He also also did a poo in unfavourable places so is banned from certain areas of the house. He is neutured. A real wild one!

Oxo:

Domestic Black Medium Hair

(Third Generation Ferals)

Oxo is very like Fluffy but he is very placid and easygoing. Like Fluffy, although he was born in the wild he is very tame and affectionate. He has a very loud miaow and is our alarm clock in the morning. As soon as it gets bright he will start up and doesn’t stop until he is Fed. Alas, he tends to pee everywhere and I might have to take him to the vet in case he has a genuine problem. I suspect it’s just his behaviour, it’s a shame as he would be a great domestic pet if he didn’t pee everywhere. He is a mostly indoors cat with Suse and Fluffy. He is neutured and wouldn’t harm a fly.

Tiny Toes:

Domestic Black Medium Hair

I would describe Tiny Toes as Whiskys baby brother but not as bad. He is like Jerry, a bit timid but a bit more brave if you know what I mean. he is a real character and seems to get into locked rooms and food cupboards. Himself and Oxo are very devious and always up to no good. He is neutured and a mostly indoors cat, however as he is very wild when he gets older he will probably be out by day and in by night. I wouldn’t trust him a hundred  percent though. He got his name because he likes to bite toes!
